The Monster and Monster 2
On May 2, we’d like to be in Japan on a private jet and then head to Las Vegas…
In Las Vegas, Benavidez vs. Zurdo… An interesting matchup. The Monster is moving up a weight class and facing one of the most competitive fighters… We were really disappointed to see him face Bivol. We don’t give him much of a chance against David because he’s slower and doesn’t pack the same punch; he remains an excellent technician capable of managing the fight, but he’s destined not to make history among the greats, even though he’s an excellent fighter. Benavidez will face some very, very interesting challenges, but we wouldn’t want to see him against Opetaia… we’ll take it step by step.
The Monster, the little big Japanese guy—among the best, if not the absolute best in the world pound-for-pound—will face another absolute great, Junto Nakatani…
In our opinion, at the end of the twelve rounds, The Monster will win… it won’t be a walk in the park… but he’ll be the one calling the shots… we’ve seen the public workout… Junto is dangerous, he packs a punch, has good rhythm, and works the middle and long range very well… we like him… but he’s slower, even though he’s bigger physically and structurally… he seems to have good reflexes… but Inoue has more punch… Ever since he took that shot from Cardenas, his hands always come back up… he’s extremely attentive to the counterattack… he’s a legend in this weight class too, but clearly he struggles a bit more… we love him… and we’ve been following him since he was small in weight and experience.
Pinpoint attacks, lightning-fast footwork, and punches that can make all the difference in a split second… Junto is a tall southpaw, but he could cause serious damage with an excellent game plan—though we don’t know if he’ll actually execute it… in fact… you should throw a right hook early, after the jab… against someone who’s staying on the inside and, defying every boxing rule, is just beating you up… It’ll be really interesting to watch them and see how The Monster fares… we’d pay to be there—truly the match of the year… probably
